The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino is dark and earthy, leading off with dank minerals and moist soil with a hint of animal musk, yet swirling in the glass brings forward its dried floral, strawberry tones with what appears to be the slightest hint of sweet tobacco. On the palate, creamy textures usher in notes of fleshy, ripe black cherry and plum over a core of brisk acids and minerals, with fine tannin mounting toward the finale; however the 2015 Bellarina remains a bit linear today. The finish is long and structured, with a coating of drying tannin clenching the senses and hints of red fruits and cocoa slowly fading. Time in the cellar should reveal further depths in this classic Brunello, yet this is already showing well.
